Patented continuous reactors for certified biochar and bio-coal

Shaiva Green Carbons designs and builds continuous rotary reactors for pyrolysis and torrefaction. One indirectly heated system makes high-carbon biochar for carbon removal, or energy-dense bio-coal to replace coal, depending on how it is run.

Class 1Isometric certified biochar, Juliflora feedstock
≥ 80.9%Organic carbon in the biochar
≤ 0.38H/C ratio (EBC limit 0.7)

Our technology

A patented reactor, designed and built by us

Our continuous rotary kiln integrates torrefaction and pyrolysis in one system. It is heated indirectly, so the reaction zone stays free of oxygen, and it burns its own process gases for heat once running.

  • Continuous feed and discharge, not batch
  • Integrated dryer using hot flue gas, so wet feedstock needs no separate drying plant
  • Runs in pyrolysis mode for biochar or torrefaction mode for bio-coal
  • Modular units sized for road transport and staged expansion

Applications

Where the products go

Steel

Biochar as a partial replacement for coal and coke, as Indian steelmakers trial lower-carbon inputs.

Power and cement

Bio-coal for co-firing with coal in power plants, cement kilns and industrial boilers.

Carbon removal

Certified biochar that locks carbon away for the long term and can earn carbon removal credits.

Agriculture

Biochar as a soil amendment that holds water and nutrients.

Our team

Engineers who have built plants at scale

Our advisory team has executed multiple 200 TPD torrefaction projects in India. Our lead advisor headed India's largest MSW-to-coal torrefaction project, at 600 TPD, and brings over 30 years of thermochemical experience.

Our Technology Director, Dr. Amit Kulshreshtha, was formerly a General Manager at NVVN and NETRA.
