ApplicationsWhere biochar and bio-coal replace coal and remove carbon
Our reactors serve two kinds of buyer: industries that need a lower-carbon fuel or carbon source, and projects that need durable carbon removal.
Steel and metallurgy
Steelmakers are testing biochar as a partial replacement for pulverised coal injection in blast furnaces. SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant has trialled it with RDCIS, and the Ministry of Steel set up a task force on biochar in April 2024.

Power plant co-firing
Thermal power plants in India are required by government policy to co-fire biomass with coal. Torrefied biomass grinds and burns like coal, so it blends into existing mills and burners.
Product: bio-coal and torrefied pellets.
Cement kilns and industrial boilers
Kilns and boilers need large volumes of steady, dry fuel. Torrefied biomass stores outdoors without rotting and burns more evenly than raw biomass.

Carbon removal
Biochar certified under standards such as Isometric locks carbon away for the long term and can generate carbon dioxide removal credits.

Agriculture
Biochar improves soil's ability to hold water and nutrients, and keeps its carbon in the ground.
Product: biochar.
Waste and crop residue
Paddy straw, agro-residues and RDF from municipal solid waste become saleable fuel instead of field fires or landfill.
